Keyim Ba @ Camelot Lounge

WHAT: Bringing together several of Australia's best West African musicians, KEYIM BA takes audiences on an exciting musical journey into West Africa fusing traditional sounds with the influences of reggae, funk and rap. With powerful African drumming and high energy dance accompanied by West African melodies on the Kora (West African harp) and guitar. The group was formed in early 2009 inspired by the release of Sibo Bangoura’s CD entitled Keyim Ba. Recently awarded the Kultour Touring grant for 2012.

"Praised for their outstanding musicianship and harnessing the explosive power of Guinean drumming, dance and song, Keyim ba infuses the audience with an undeniable urge to move your body!” - Anna Georgia, CEO, Free World Films

Side by side, brothers Mohamed & Sibo Bangoura, two of Australia’s leading West African Djembe masters, bring dynamic drumming to the stage. The Bangoura brothers play alongside Yacou MBaye (Senegal) on Doun Doun (base drums), Moussa Diakete (Mali), former guitarist to Salif Keita on lead guitar and Jean Gomez (Senegal) on bass. Joined also by well known Sydney musician Blair Greenberg, Julian Belbachir on percussion and the captivating vocals of Sydney-based singer/song writer, Miriam Lieberman completes the picture.

Guaranteed to have you dancing all night!  NOT TO BE MISSED!!
