‘The Vocal Consort in concert’
The Vocal Consort with
the Australian Boys Choir,
the Kelly Gang
Frederick Shade, flute
Conductor, Noel Ancell OAM
The Australian Boys Choral Institute proudly presents its first concert for 2010 in the charming and now newly refurbished Assembly Hall. The concert will provide
one of the first glimpses of how this example of late Gothic revival architecture has regained its former glories. A program of sensational choral music will show off its extraordinary acoustics.
Unusually for The Vocal Consort, almost all the music is secular and from overseas. Randall Thompson, Samuel Barber and Morten Lauridsen from the Americas face Gabriel Fauré and Camille Saint-Saëns across the Atlantic. England is represented by Ralph Vaughan Williams’ hysterical Epitaph on Jon Jayberd, while New Zealand’s David Hamilton provides his own special blessing. A special highlight will be Conrad Susa’s hauntingly beautiful A Winter Serenade for men’s chorus and flute.
