Duncan Green: From Poverty to Power

Duncan Green: From Poverty to Power

Dr Duncan Green is Senior Strategic Adviser at Oxfam GB, honorary Professor of International Development at Cardiff University and a Visiting Fellow at the Institute for Development Studies.

Duncan Green has recently updated his 2008 book From Poverty to Power, which he will draw on in this talk. In this talk he reflects on the big events that have shaken the world since 2008 (finance, food prices, Arab Spring, climate change). He will discuss our evolving understanding of the nature of poverty, the growing importance of inequality and the challenge of working in complex systems where predictable, linear cause and effect are the exception, rather than the rule

Please arrive at 5pm for a 5.30 sharp start. After the talk there will be a chance to ask Duncan some questions. You are then invited to drinks upstairs
