The Freeplay Independent Games Festival 2013
Taking place from 25 to 29 September, the Freeplay festival explores the development and culture of indie games through the lens of this year's theme: Volume of Revolution. Festival-goers will be able to attend a variety of events during both our Playful and Conference Programs, guaranteeing an encapsulating week of discussion, learning, and growth within the independent games community.
Wikisneaks - Wednesday 25 September, 7pm
Join us for a fun night playing playful collective Pop-Up Playground's latest game, Wikisneaks. This physical game utilises space throughout the State Library lawns, encouraging exploration and social collaboration amongst players.

Game Design Workshop - Thursday 26 September, 7pm
Ever wanted to learn from a trio of award-winning game designers? This workshop is your chance to learn from some of the best designers from Australia and overseas, while honing your skills at the same time.
Venue: Melbourne City Library, 253 Flinders Lane
Special guests: Steve Swink, Harry Lee, Grant Howitt
Maker Mixer - Friday 27 September, 7pm
In this workshop, emerging game designers are encouraged to try their hand at creating both chiptune music and character design, under the guidance of some of Australia's most established practitioners.

Special guests: Nathan Antony, Saska Ayris, and Bilvy
Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 September
After gearing up with the week's Playful Program, festival-goers will be launched into the Conference Program, which takes place over a full weekend. Join a unique mix of players, makers, critics, artists, academics, students, and the public for an exploration and celebration of independent games.
Tickets to our Conference Program also include entry to our Saturday night party at the RMIT Design Hub, and the Freeplay Awards ceremony at Bella Union on Sunday night.
