Registration
Lorne & Torquay
19 November to 4 December 2010
Thank you for registering for 2010! Congratulations on completing your secondary education; it is a fantastic achievement!!!
The Schoolies Working Group (SWG) works all year round to provide a safer environment for you and the community during your end of year celebrations. There are many organisations represented on SWG who you will see during your stay. It’s a good idea to get to know the support staff in case you or your mates need help.
Young people have told us that they choose Lorne and Torquay for a more relaxed environment than the Gold Coast etc. Remember that Lorne and Torquay are small coastal towns where most people need to go to work each day. Many have young families and there are also lots of retired people. So please be respectful and considerate to the community while you’re here.

What things should I know?
- Torquay and Lorne have many residents living there permanently. While you are holidaying these people are living a normal life like you are when you are home, so please be respectful, friendly and considerate to the locals and keep noise to a minimum.
- Open alcohol packages and drinking alcohol in public is against local laws and there are new glass and butt free bans for beaches. Get to know what you can and can’t do.
- Coastal communities are struggling to manage glass packaging and in particular broken glass bottles. Please help us by buying alternatives to glass, but if you must buy glass please put your rubbish in the bin. Broken glass and beaches don’t mix. Broken glass is not only a safety concern but a health issue as well. Encourage others to keep the Surf Coast glass free.
- Look out for your mates!!! Most problems can be avoided if you look out for each other.
- Respect yourself, respect the community and respect the environment.
- Coastal regions are constantly exposed to threats and damage due to poor choices by us. Please consider our beaches and surroundings by keeping them clean and safe.
- Get to know where to go and who to ask for help. It might not be you, but one of your mates who need it, so make sure you are prepared.
- Enjoy your stay, have a good time, be safe, take home lots of happy memories & good luck in the next chapter of life’s journey!!
