Our event is a competition where drama groups from the top of the South Island can present a short (up to 50 minutes) play and have it assessed by a professional adjudicator, who provides feedback on on its work in respect of creativity, technique and production choices. The plays are also considered for presentation in the next level of TheareFest, the regional event, to be held in Christchurch during September. TheatreFest also helps audiences better understand the components of a theatrical production, and promotes friendship, learning, sharing and communication through theatre practices.
