About
We’re doing it again this October, and we need your help to beat the food record once more! As Christmas time approaches, this food will be a massive help to the local community.
***HERE’S WHAT’S HAPPENING***
- We’re coming back to Kumeu Showgrounds on Sunday October 11th, from 11am - 3pm, for another enormous day of car variety and appreciation. Huge thanks to the Kumeu Showgrounds team for allowing this event to happen!
- Car entry is just $10 if you pre-book and secure your online ticket HERE, and still only $20 per car if you’re paying on the day. Spectators/passengers are free, just try to bring a food donation! Gate entry takes Paywave and cash.
- The amazing Salvation Army team will be taking your food donations at the gate, as well as helping us to run this event once again.
- We’ll have food trucks and family activities, plus local business stalls to check out as well.
- Bowden’s Own will sponsor the automatic entry Show and Shine once again, providing $500 of prizes for the top voted cars after the event. Categories include Best JDM, Euro, USA/Aus, Rotary, and FWD!
**WHO CAN ENTER?**
We welcome cool cars from all backgrounds - JDM, USA, Euro, new, old, ancient, stock, modified etc.
If a car enthusiast will get a kick out of seeing your car, bring it along!
Every car that comes in is automatically entered into the Bowden’s Own Show and Shine, and with photographers about, you’re likely to get some photos of your car on the day too.
**LOCATION / TIMING**
Location: Kumeu Showgrounds, entrance on Access Road - a venue map will be posted to the event discussion page near the date.
Date: Sunday 11th October, 2026
Time: 11am to 3pm
Car Entry: $10 per CAR for this event when you pre-book (HERE), plus a food donation.
On-day entry is $20 per CAR, plus food donation (we prefer you book).
Spectator Entry: Free, but please take part by donating some food!
**NEW TO THESE EVENTS? HERE’S HOW TO TAKE PART**
To take part, once you’ve paid your entry or scanned your e-ticket, all you need to do is donate a decent can of food, a bag of dry rice, dry pasta, or other non-perishable food. If you’re spectating, while you don’t have to, please consider contributing something even if it’s small!
Times are tough for some of our fellow Kiwis out there, so this is a hugely effective way to help people directly. It’s ALSO a great way to show NZ that this side of the car community does good for the world - seeing as we’re constantly a target of the media and Police!
**Why a venue is better than a “street meet”**
Since we’re here at a proper venue, you don’t have all the downsides of your typical “street” parkups, ESPECIALLY with the new laws coming in…
Police: You can’t get stickered inside! You can even trailer in a racecar if you like. Mint huh?
Security: We can kick out muppets if we need, leaving a great atmosphere for both young and old to enjoy. Things are more predictable this way, meaning there’s no way some drifta wannabe will crash into your dream car.
Food: You’ve got lots of options for food trucks on the premises! Not just maccas…
Toilets & Bins: On premises, so you don’t have to walk for ages.
There are many more positives, and all in all, the last one provided massive improvements on our old street meets. It’s the only sustainable direction to head in really.
However, it costs us money - and even with Kumeu Showgrounds helping us out, we carry a lot of the risk ourselves - so all of your support is greatly appreciated.
EXTRA ACTIVITIES TO BE ADDED SOON
- Pending: Playstation time trial competition for a prize. Further details to come…
**SKIDS/ANTISOCIAL BEHAVIOUR**
As usual, we are running a ZERO TOLERANCE setup for this event. We won't allow any risks.
If you skid, or act dangerously inside or outside the venue, we WILL find video of it, and it will be passed on to the NZ Police for you to lose your license.
There's a time and a place, this is NOT that time. It's also a charity focused event, so don't be a muppet!
**WEATHER**
If the weather looks dodgy for several days leading up to the event, we will have to consult with the grounds manager at Kumeu Showgrounds, and may need to postpone the event if the grounds are not fit for purpose. In the event that this does happen, we will put a message up on the event page, as well as on our IG and FB stories.
With that said, it's going to be an awesome day out, so see y’all there!
