Wild Earthlings Weekend play
IMPORTANT COVID-19 INFORMATION
Whilst we acknowledge and understand current health and safety practices, we also place high importance on the mental wellbeing of our little people and personal connections our sessions bring. We also believe in holistic health and natural approaches to staying safe. For these reasons, our facilitators will not wear masks at our events, nor do we encourage you or your children to wear masks at our events. The reason for this is that our space is one where facial expressions are important and being close comes naturally, and although we of course encourage families to practice safe social distancing and coughing and sneezing practices, we will not stop children from being close if that is where their interactions take them. Sanitizer will also not be available at our events, although it is up to you whether you bring your own.
All equipment is cleaned and sanitized before and after each session, and being that we are in an open environment, social distancing is possible.
We also have families from a wide range of backgrounds beliefs and lifestyles, meaning that you may encounter ideas that do not match your own. We ask that any discussions you have around COVID-19, mask wearing, healthy lifestyles etc, remain respectful and appropriate. Although it is a great time to catch up with adults, children hear discussions so please be mindful.
Current NSW restrictions are ever changing and we will stay updated and keep you informed if any changes to the session must be made ahead of time.
Above all else, please be patient and understanding. We not only want to ensure that every family gets the best experience, but also that we are doing what is legal and advisable so that we can continue these events long after this has ended.
Our session runs from 9:30-11:30 and are open to children aged 6 months-12 years.
The children will have opportunities to learn by using the many resources provided which will include clay, paint and tools, as well as the natural world itself. Fallen sticks can become cubby houses, pine needles can becomes blankets for babies, hollow logs can be a cave to explore, a bush track can be an endless adventure.
At the beginning of the session we will gather together in a circle to conduct our acknowledgement of country, we will then go through the resources, at which point your children are free to explore the space at their own pace. No pressure, no necessity to get everything done, just pure, child led learning.
This means that on any given day you may encounter; whittling, sawing, hammering, rope climbing, digging, puddle jumping, clay sculpting, storytelling, animal exploration, drawing with charcoal, relaxing beneath a tree, painting, potion making!
Because our sessions are open to all age groups, there will be a number of different areas that focus on all skill levels.
This is our aim, to give children the space, time and encouragement needed to learn.
Our sessions run in all weather so please dress appropriately on the day. We will only cancel in the event of severe storms, wind or severe fire danger.
We encourage you to bring unpackaged snacks so that our impact on the environment is minimal
