Led by a JamFactory representative this clay-colouring and hand forming workshop teaches techniques employed by Angela Valamanesh such as dying clay with stains and
oxides and a demonstration of the ‘scratch-back’ technique utilised in many of her objects. Participants create a unique piece that is dyed and formed by hand. This workshop is held in conjunction with the exhibition JamFactory ICON Angela Valamanesh: About being here.

Sumi-e Japanese Ink Painting with Ken Lamb Date TBC
$150 / $140 members (lunch provided)
This workshop is an introduction to the principles of Japanese Sumi-e painting. Each participant will create their own Sumi-e painting, with assistance from Ken. All basic materials will be provided for the day, and extra supplies will be available for purchase like paper, ink and brushes. Students are welcome to bring their own brushes. Prior experience or skills are not needed.
Ken majored in modern landscape painting with a particular interest in Oriental aesthetics, Japanese sumi-e brush painting, and traditional Chinese landscape ink paintings of the Sung dynasty. Ken is the designer of the Edogawa Japanese Gardens at the Gosford Regional Gallery.
