Mosaic Art Talks (MATS)
The day will begin with information talks by experienced practitioners on Andamento (the visual movement of the tesserae) fossicking/geology, legal/copyright and workshops/classes, each talk followed by Q & A. After morning tea a panel of experts will answer your questions on such practicalities as the type of material (substrate) on which you can create your mosaic, design techniques, which type of adhesive is best suited for your project etc. Please come ready with lots of questions!
From lunch time trade tables will be operating from Mosaic Bazaar, Creative Mosaics and Robbie Towill, a great opportunity to see and purchase from a wide variety of mosaic materials.
In the afternoon there will be two parallel programs operating:
1. For those who have never made a mosaic previously, a chance to kick-start your journey with the opportunity to make your very first creation.
2. For the rest of us, four practical demonstrations on colour theory, using the hammer & hardie, rock splitting & glass cutting. So as to see each demonstration you will be rotated around to each station, and questions will be welcome.
The Silent Auction winds up this fabulous day with your chance to sell and purchase a small mosaic, chat, and make new connections.
The day will be run in a COVID safe manner as dictated by the rules at the time.
