Introduction to the adult attachment interview
This workshop will work through the Adult Attachment Interview (AAI), with a focus on 20 open-ended questions that call upon the recollection of childhood experiences. It will explore how one's attachment experience informs and affects one's development and relationships into adulthood and parenting. It will also consider the ways in which responses can enhance clinical understanding and treatment of clients.
Aim of session
- To provide an overview of attachment theory in the context of children and adults
- To explore how object relations, the internal working model and attachment theory all intersect
- To work through the AAI questions in a practical workshop
- Understanding AAI protocol
- Introducing the AAI into your practice.
Learning Objectives
- To gain a comprehensive understanding of attachment theory through a psychoanalytic lens
- To understand the AAI and its application and clinical value
- To identify and understand Attachment theory in the context of psychoanalytic theory related to early life experience.

YOUR FACILITATOR
Therese Raulin is a child psychoanalytic psychotherapist who runs her own pratice in Malvern, Victoria. She offers psychotherapy to children, adolescents and adults, and has a special interest in interpersonal trauma, early life and post-partum depression and attachment difficulties. She has held senior management positions responsible for clinical governance, therapeutic service delivery and innovation across various sectors. She is a current member of the Child Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Association of Asutralia, the Psychoanalytic Psychotherapists Association of Australia and the Australian Association of Infant Mental Health.
