Psychodynamic group work
This workshop will explore the principles and practice of psychodynamic group work with an emphasis on the impact of unconscious emotional processes on the work and behaviour of the group.
Aim of session
- Provide an overview of psychodynamic group work
- Explore the rationale and hypothesis of the psychodynamics of group work
- Explore the group as a system with its own life which is conscious and unconscious
- Explore the subsystems within a group
- Explore how unconscious emotional processes shape group behaviour
- Explore how unconscious processes inhibit the work of the group
Learning objectives
- To gain an understanding of psychodynamic group work
- To understand the psychodynamics of group work and how the study of the unconscious behaviour and dynamics deepens the understanding and awareness of the group
- To identify and understand the value and potential impact of a more conscious self-aware group

YOUR FACILITATOR
Therese Raulin is a child psychoanalytic psychotherapist who runs her own pratice in Malvern, Victoria. She offers psychotherapy to children, adolescents and adults, and has a special interest in interpersonal trauma, early life and post-partum depression and attachment difficulties. She has held senior management positions responsible for clinical governance, therapeutic service delivery and innovation across various sectors. She is a current member of the Child Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Association of Asutralia, the Psychoanalytic Psychotherapists Association of Australia and the Australian Association of Infant Mental Health.
