CQ Beekeepers Association:- Native Bee Workshops in Mackay
Hosted by Central Queensland Beekeepers Association Inc, these workshops will cover topics including native bee nesting biology, foraging biology, diversity of wild native bees, the importance of bees in natural systems, traditional stingless beekeeping, modern stingless beekeeping in Australia, using stingless bees for pollination of gardens & farms, sugarbag honey and its properties, rescuing bees threatened in the wild, and more.
Practical sessions will include opening hives to observe internal structures, demonstrate hive propagation, extract honey and provide tips on managing native social bees.
Come along to learn from Dr Tim Heard, a well-known entomologist, presenter and native bee keeper with more than 35 yrs experience of rescuing and breeeding stingless bee colonies. Tim studies and promotes native bees for pollination and conservation.
