Wesley Mission Wills Day - Blacktown
Important Information - Please read this before booking your appointment
Legal Will Preparation from just $95
Thursday 15th July 2021
Due to current COVID-19 Restrictions, appointments will now take place via telephone or video conference, not at the Blacktown Workers Club as originally planned. Our 2020 Wills days demonstrated the success of this process to ensure you obtain a professionally prepared Will.
Hello, and welcome to the Wesley Wills Day - Blacktown booking page. If you, or any members of your family, have never prepared a Will (such as young adults who consider they don't have any valuable assets) or if your Will needs to be updated, this is an excellent opportunity to have a simple, or ‘non-complex’ Will prepared in consultation with a lawyer for only $95
You can book your appointment and pay here to reserve your spot, but first...
The information you read in this section (please scroll to the bottom of the page) will ensure you are well prepared for the Wills day and that you gain the most from your experience. The local lawyers at this event are taking time out from their busy practices to help you, and us, and we greatly appreciate their involvement.
Thank you too, for supporting Wesley Mission in this way. The income from each Will that is prepared helps to support Wesley Mission's community services.
This Wills Day is also an opportunity for you to consider leaving a gift (of any size) in your Will to support the ongoing work of Wesley Mission's future care of children, families, those suffering from mental health, the homeless and others in real need. But, there is no obligation, and we ask that you take care of your family and loved ones first. After your family has been looked after, a small percentage of what is left will make a real difference, and we will use your gift carefully and cost effectively so it has the greatest impact.
Booking Instructions
There are two time slots for each appointment, (a) and (b). This is because there are two solicitors in the morning session and two in the afternoon session. Your first appointment is for twenty minutes. During this time you will provide the solicitor with your instructions from which they will prepare your draft Will. Depending on the solicitor's method of operation under the current situation, they will provide you with instructions to have your finished Will signed and witnessed.
Once you have selected your appointment time and paid, we will send you an information pack (email is quickest) which will help you to prepare for your consultation with the solicitor. Your pack contains confirmation of your appointment time, and instruction forms.
Please read the confirmation letter carefully and complete the client instruction forms in readiness for your consultation as they help the solicitor to prepare your Will. The solicitor you are assigned to may ask that they be emailed to them before the Wills day, so please be prepared for this. Have your instruction forms with you during your consultation.
It is common for couples to meet with the solicitor at the same consultation. It is OK if one partner is not able to attend (due for example to work commitments), as long as the other partner has both sets of client instructions for the consultation, so the solicitor can prepare both Wills.
What to bring with you to your appointment
- Identification - this is an essential requirement from our solicitors, as without it your appointment may be postponed or cancelled. Driver's Licence, and Medicare Card are preferred. Passport, birth certificate, marriage certificate are additional methods of identification.
- Your current Will if this is to be updated. There may be relevant information that can be brought into your new Will.
- Names, addresses and occupations of people you are appointing as Powers of Attorney and/or Enduring Guardianship.
- Your client instruction form. The solicitor uses this information to prepare your Will. This form remains confidential between you and the solicitor.
*Please Note:
- A simple Will is suitable for people who don't have blended family structure, don't require a Trust, and don't have assets in other jurisdictions, such as in other countries. For example, a simple Will may leave a single partner all the estate, or split an amount of money evenly between their children. It can also includes gifts to a few other individuals and charities.
- A complex Will is required if you have had multiple relationships (marriage or de facto), with multiple children, or you have a large extended family, if you need any type of Trust structures, or you have an investment portfolio containing different asset classes, such as bonds, property, shares, including assets in other countries. This situation is outside of the cost for a simple Will, but it can be provided for at the Wills day.
If you think that your situation is going to need a complex Will, our lawyers will be pleased to assess your situation and provide a competitive cost estimation to prepare your Will. The lawyer will take your payment to Wesley Mission into account in preparing your quote, and the balance is payable to the law firm when you sign your documents. The preparation of your documents will take longer than we would expect our lawyers to volunteer their time, hence the provision of a cost estimation.
Paying for Extra Documents.
Please note that the lawyers will not be able to release other documents prepared through the Wills day service if payment is not received at the time these are signed.
We trust that this process works well for you. If you have any questions, we are only a phone call or email away
