Work of Reclamation, Annie O'Rourke, Opening Event
Please join us for this exhibition exploring historical imagery of women from around the world working in Magdalen Laundries. For almost a century, a Magdalen Laundry operated at Abbotsford Convent, where girls were sent to live and work, without pay and often involuntarily, by their families or the courts. This show considers the way in which enduring myths developed over time, about the girls and women placed in these institutions. With thanks to the Abbotsford Convent Foundation.
