FAQs
Can my child come to the Ball?
Quizzic Alley is a magical place loved by children so we're making sure they don't miss out. Children younger than 14 and their families are welcome to attend a special version of The Great Wizard's Ball, called the Young Wizards' Tea Party. It won't be as long as the evening ball and we will be serving afternoon-tea-style food instead of a full meal. The ticket price is substantially lower to make it more affordable for families.
It's important to note that this event really isn't appropriate for children under five and all children MUST be accompanied by an adult and vice-versa. If you are a solo adult or one of a group of adults, you will not be allowed to attend the Tea Party. Rather, you should buy ticket/s for The Great Wizards' Ball in the evening. If you purchase tickets against this advice, you will not be allowed entry on the night.
Children aged over 14 are, of course, allowed to attend the Young Wizards' Tea Party but we do encourage them to choose the later ball instead. Note that, as alcohol will be served, they must be accompanied by an adult and parents/guardians must ensure underage attendees comply with all relevant rules, regulations and licenses.
Please note that proof of age may be required prior to service of alcohol at The Great Wizards' Ball.
Is The Great Wizards' Ball a fundraiser for charity?
Quizzic Alley is committed to creating magical events and using them to raise awareness and funds for worthy causes. For 2021/22 our fundraising partner is The Kids' Cancer Project.
Some of the fun and magical activities at each event may have a cost associated. For others you will be asked to make a small donation. Representatives from The Kids' Cancer Project will attend both events and may run fundraising raffles etc. of their own. We ask that, in light of the reduced ticket price, that you give generously.
Can we dress up?
Absolutely! We encourage it! There will be prizes for best-dressed and lots of photo opps around the room that you will want to be dressed up for. Drop in to Quizzic Alley in Sydney or Canberra for any clothes and accessories you need. You can also shop online at quizzicalley.com. We will also have a limited range of clothing and accessories etc. at the ball for those last-minute purchases and finishing touches.
Is the venue wheelchair accessible?
Yes, Marrickville Town Hall is wheelchair accessible... except for the stage. Wheelchair users are welcome to sit wherever they please in the dining hall. If you need assistance at or directions for the venue, please call us on 97199286.
Can I sit with my friends?
Of course! Book a table of 8 (or a family of 4 for the Tea Party) and we will make sure you all sit together. Note that seating is trestle format which means that you should arrive togther if you want to sit together. Talk to your friends and agree on an arrival time and maybe arrange to collect the one that is always running late (there's always one!).
What is your refund policy?
Tickets are sold on a non-refundable basis. However, you can gift your ticket to someone else as long as they can present your ticket upon entry. All attendees must have a valid ticket with a scanable code to enter.
Under no circumstances are tickets won in any competition to be sold to a third party. If you have no use for the tickets, they must be returned to Quizzic Alley so they can be gifted to someone else.
What about dietary requirements?
Much of the meal will be served banquet style so, if you have special dietary requirements, please make sure you specify them at booking and, when you arrive, please make yourself known to the person at the registration desk.
How much do tickets cost?
Book early to take advantage of the EarlyOwl price of $189 per ticket for The Great Wizards' Ball. They won't last long at that price! Still, at the full price of $240, it's still a really good deal. And there is a discount if you book for 8 or more! There are no EarlyOwl tickets for the Young Wizards' Tea Party as tickets are already discounted to make it as affordable as possible for families. Tickets are $90 each with a discount for a group of four and for additional single kids tickets. Note that all children must be accompanied by an adult and vice-versa.
