AAFT PD: Climate Change, Anxiety and Mental Health
Workshop Description:
Climate change has significant mental health impacts which are projected to increase in coming years. These impacts relate to climate-driven weather events, longer-term environmental changes and the growing awareness of the existential threat to our society. These impacts disproportionately affect vulnerable members of our society, including children. This webinar will provide insights into lived experience of climate anxiety, a summary of the dimensions and scope of these issues, and a range of strategies, practices and promising solutions to support those who are experiencing ‘pre-traumatic stress’ relating to climate change. The webinar will provide opportunities for personal reflection, discussion and sharing of perspectives. Whether or not you’re already supporting people experiencing climate anxiety, this is a growth area and one we need to be prepared for - personally and professionally.
