LECTURE -EARTHQUAKE - TALE OF TWO CITIES - NOTO & NAPIER
The cities of Noto and Napier were razed by earthquakes and as result both cities had to be rebuilt. In 1693, the medieval city of Noto was virtually razed by the 1693 Sicilian earthquake and the new city was rebuilt as an extraordinary Baroque showcase. Likewise Napier was destroyed in the 1931 Hawke's Bay earthquake and was reimagined as tour de force of Art Deco architecture. Come see these two amazing desinations...
