Restrung Productions and Metro Arts present
Hope's Beautiful Symphony
featuring Delmae Barton, with Vanessa Tomlinson, Erik Griswold and Samuel Pankhurst.
Hope's Beautiful Symphony presents a sonic landscape drawing on Bidjara Elder Auntie Delmae's childhood in and around Emerald.
Mixed with the evocative, shimmering colours of pianist Erik Griswold, percussionist Vanessa Tomlinson, and bassist Samuel Pankhurst, expect a slow-moving meditation in sound, memories and newly discovered improvisatory futures. This band all live within five kilometres of each other, and first came together early in the pandemic for weekly jams in the studio below Erik and Vanessa's house. What at first was a musical outlet for four frustrated musicians in lockdown, became a band of friends exploring new musical languages.
This event is presented as part of Restrung Festival, bringing audiences a banquet of boundary-pushing, strings-driven music and art. Click here to view the full Restrung Festival program.
