LECTURE: IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF EDVARD MUNCH
"The Scream" is one of the iconic images of world art. it was painted by Norwegian artist Edvard Munch (1863 –1944). Munch's childhood was "overshadowed by illness, bereavement and the dread of inheriting a mental condition that ran in the family." Munch studied art in Oslo. He lived a bohemian life with his art reflecting his emotional and psychological state ('soul painting') from which emerges a distinctive style. This lecture will profile the life and art of Munch.
