Heritage & Harmony Fiesta 2022
A free community event for all the family!
Come to celebrate the richness and diversity of multicultural life in the Redlands and step back in history through song, dance, storytelling and music. Local Indigenous culture will be honoured by Josh Walker and the Yullubariba Dance Group, who will share their song, dance, and stories in a presentation that features the distinctive and unique voice of the didgeridoo. A taste of early colonial culture will be provided by Dance Kaleidoscope, all togged up in Regency elegance and performing English country dancing of the gentry and workers in traditional village, fair, festival, clog, and linked sword dancing. German culture struts its stuff with exuberant folk dancing and the joyous music of handbells and from 1000 years ago Chinese traditional Lion Dancers, dispelling ill-fortune and bringing prosperity, roar onto the stage with all the clamour Chinese percussion instruments can muster.
Come away from the dance floor and into the darkness and mystery of the smithy! In ancient times blacksmiths were regarded as beings with magical powers, able to draw singing metal from lumps of rock. In the Museum’s working forge you’ll be introduced to the magic of transforming iron into steel, learning the life story of a process that changed the course of human history. For the children there are puppet and magic shows, craft table & Thomas interactive train se
View a variety of transport and engines from past eras, watch the museum come alive with costumed characters and various displays and treat yourself to delicious Devonshire Teas and sausage sizzles!
