Making Things Go Together
Coding workshop for female High School students in years 7 to 12
WA Inspiring Women Australia and Scitech would like to invite regional and out-of-metro female high school and gender diverse students to join us for a day of coding and hand on Tech workshop. We will learn. Delivered on the Joondalup campus by some talented young women. On the day you will learn how to code an Arduino and breadboard lights, motors, and buzzers then go ahead and create your own model with card and material.
What the day looks like
8:45 - Registrations open and log onto computers with
9:00 - Workshop 1 - Arduino platform, libraries, tab files C++, board testing
10:00 - break
10:30 - Workshop 2 - Blinking lights, Breadboards (electronics), and circuits (https://www.circuito.io/app?components=9442,11021,281909)
11:30 -Workshop 3 - Joysticks, Buttons, and Buzzers
12:30 - lunch
1:00 - Workshop 4 - LED Matrix
2:00 - Workshop 5 - Project build (prototyping) - take photos, record your creation, and save your code
3:00 – Home time
Session times: - 9:00 to 3:00pm
Date: Wednesday September 28th
Location: ECU Joondalup campus - School of Science Building 18. We will be working out of the computer labs located on Level 1. Registrations will also be on the first floor
Cost: $0
BYO Morning tea and lunch - At this stage please bring along your own food (lunch and morning tea) and water bottles. We can pop some foods in the fridge if need be. We have water filling stations on level 1.
Parking and drop off: Please park at visitor car park 14, where you can park and come in to drop off your child/children. The entrance is Deakin off Lakeside Drive. See Google Maps for directions.
On the day: We will be taking photos during the day so please ensure you tick or cross the photo permission box on the registration form. Parents and/or guardians are invited to come and view what we have created from 2:45pm onwards.
