Chisholm's Science Guest Speaker: National Science Week 2022
About
The Science Learning Area at Chisholm Catholic College is proud to present Dr. Benjamin Dix-Matthews, Scientist & College Alumin (Class of 2012). Benjamin received his Ph.D. in Experimental Physics from the University of Western Australia. His research focuses on transmitting ultra-stable lasers through the atmosphere to support high-precision scientific measurements & high-speed data communications. In the last 5 years he has broken the world record for the most stable laser transmission through the atmosphere twice & played an integral role in establishing the first space laser ground station in the southern hemisphere. He is now working on the challenges of transmitting laser signals between the ground & satellites in orbit, which has him working closely with space agencies around the world (NASA and ESA). Benjamin will be discussing his career & journey through Science. Question time & a light supper will follow his presentation. All members of the College community are welcome.Location
