Join Nature Play WA and Parks and Wildlife as we explore John Forrest National Park in September!
There are so many things to see and do, and we’d like to introduce you to one of our favourite spots, the John Forrest picnic area.
The picnic area is a popular space for families to visit, especially in spring when the wildflowers are in bloom and the brook is flowing are flowing. There are several public barbecues and seating options, and a nature playground. Many of the park's walk trails start here, and lead to significant attractions like Hovea Falls, National Park Falls and the Swan View Tunnel.
We are celebrating John Forrest National Park throughout September and hope you can join us on Wednesday 28 September 2022 for a day of exploring, learning and playing outdoors.
Join us at 10am for an official Welcome to Country by Joe Collard followed by a few hours outdoors with a variety of activities like traditional hut making and nature craft. As you explore the park, try your hand at archaeological excavation, or chat to the Anthropologist and Archaeologist at the event about what they’ve recently discovered here.
The Friends of John Forrest group will also be joining us to share their knowledge and experience at the park and look forward to meeting some local nature enthusiasts!
A guided walk with the Hike Collective will explore Glen Brook Dam. This walking tour departs at 10.30am and is a 2-kilometre loop walk returning to the picnic area. Attendees following the tour will be provided with materials to create a journey stick on their way. Numbers are limited. Please register at the Nature Play WA marquee on the day of the event.
This event is wheelchair friendly and all ages are welcome. Registration is essential as spaces are limited.
