Technology and Positioning for Access
About
Seating and positioning play a significant role in an individual’s ability to move, stabilise and control their body. Operation of a communication device, phone or tablet always requires a movement whether it be eyes, head, arms, hands or any other body part. Different ways of accessing environmental controls, communication devices, mainstream tablets and phones will be discussed in this presentation and how positioning potentially impacts and influences a user’s movement. We will discuss the importance of understanding the functional movements an individual needs to access the other assistive and mainstream technologies to talk, play, work and recreate. You will have HANDS ON opportunities to explore different access options and participate in a range of case studies to see how technology and positioning come together to support individual's to access their world. This workshop is for occupational therapists, speech pathologists and physiotherapists.Location
