AAIMH NSW June 2026 Seminar
About
The NSW branch of the Australian Association for Infant Mental Health (AAIMH) hosts a monthly online seminar series.Join us at our June 2026 seminar to hear from Associate Professor Richard Fletcher on the topic, "Reaching fathers through their phones".
Overview: SMS4dads and SMS4DeadlyDads have enrolled more than 22,000 fathers, most stay the course of the messages which can begin at 12 weeks gestation and continue until 48 weeks post birth, depending on when they enrol. While we are satisfied with the level of parenting and mental health information that we provide the challenge that we see is to engage the men in reflecting on their relationship with their baby, in utero and once they are born. We are building a “Speaking for the Baby’ campaign through our texts and resources not only for the enrolled fathers but for their partners and the clinicians who support them.
Richard Fletcher is Associate Professor, Fathers and Families Research Program, College of Health, Medicine and Wellbeing, The University of Newcastle, He has been conducting programs and research with fathers and families for over 40 years. He is the founder and principal investigator of SMS4dads (www.sms4dads.com ) a national information and support program delivering text messages to fathers over the perinatal period.
Cost: Free for AAIMH members; $15 for non-AAIMH members. Please note, the session will not be recorded.
