Primary School Weekly Sport
Term 1 2023
In Term 1, in addition to the mandatory K - 2 gross motor, Year 3 sport lessons and Year 4 - 6 Thursday interschool sport, a variety of optional weekly skills training programs and weekly sport competitions will be offered. Information for each of these options is outlined in the following pages. Weekly sport options are offered on a termly basis and the sports for each year group will vary from term to term, with an aim for students to try a variety of sports throughout the year.
Registrations for all sports are to be completed at https://www.trybooking.com/FQMS. Registrations will open at 4pm on Friday 2 December.
Following registration, parents will receive an email with further information, including a link to the weekly draws/schedules for those enrolled in competition sport. Due to the various competitions that Emanuel takes part in, each sport has a varied schedule, including start and finish dates. Please refer to the information on the following pages for each individual activity.
Students are permitted to wear Emanuel PE uniform to school on the day/s that they are participating in a sport option, and therefore some students may require multiple pieces of PE uniform. Students playing a competition sport may require a specific uniform, which is outlined in the following pages for each individual activity. Students are not permitted to wear House shirts at any off site activities and are not permitted to wear attire that is not part of the Emanuel sports kit. All pieces of uniform can be purchased from the school uniform shop.
Once committed to a sporting activity, attending all training and games is compulsory unless a student is injured or unwell. If an enrolled student is unable to attend a session due to injury or illness, parents are required to email the Sports Office prior to the activity at sport@emanuelschool.nsw.edu.au
Please note that all activities aim to promote a positive and co-operative atmosphere in a stimulating learning environment. It is our expectation that students learn in a safe, secure and supportive environment where behaviour is based on a commitment to mutual respect for peers, staff, coaches, external providers and the school environment. Should the actions of a student in any activity fail to exhibit these characteristics, they will receive a warning/time out. Students who receive three warnings in a term will be asked to leave the program for the rest of the term. Under these circumstances, refunds will not be available.
In the event of wet weather cancellations, a decision for morning sports is made at 6am on the day of the activity, and at 2pm for afternoon sports. If an activity is cancelled, notification will be sent via a text message to the parents.
In recognition of the value that the School places on sport, the School covers approximately 40% of the costs of weekly sport options. In 2023, there will be an increase in fees to cover the increasing costs of facilities, registrations and transport. The relevant costs also ensure that an excellent coach to player ratio is provided, to support the best possible sporting development of the students.
