About
Spend three immersive days learning the traditional craft of bootmaking and create your own made-to-measure pair of pull-on boots.
Inspired by classic Western roper boots, this workshop will guide you through the process of making a short leather boot with traditional pull tabs and a Vibram lugged sole. Every pair is made-to-measure.
You'll be selecting leather from the incredible range available in the Leffler Leather warehouse. Then, with expert guidance from Lou, you'll learn the core techniques of bootmaking, including cutting, stitching, lasting uppers, and attaching soles.
You'll leave with not only a unique pair of handmade boots, but also the confidence and skills to continue in your own time … Bootmaking kits and supplies (including lasts!) are available from Leffler Leather.
It's an ambitious project for three days, and incredibly rewarding. You'll certainly get what you put in! No previous shoemaking experience is necessary—just a willingness to learn and enjoy the process.
Your tutor will be Lou Clifton of 'Shoe School'. She has run shoemaking workshops in NZ and Australia for over a decade, and has trained in Japan and the US.
