Alison is a qualified veterinarian with more than 30 years of experience in the cattle industry. She holds a Masters in Dairy Cattle Medicine and has worked as a Senior Lecturer in Ruminant Health at the University of Sydney. Alison has led industry projects on calf health, developed training programs for Dairy Australia, and now runs Herd Solutions, helping producers improve livestock health, nutrition and productivity.
Alison will discuss practical strategies for managing feed gaps, particularly during drought conditions, through the use of alternative feedstuffs and cropping options to maintain productivity and resilience. She will explore the costs, benefits, and limitations of different feeding approaches, while highlighting how to ensure optimal herd and flock health when introducing new feed sources. Attendees will gain valuable insights into balancing feed availability, animal performance, sustainability, and business profitability during challenging seasonal conditions.
