Location
Dean & Mandi Herauville's Property 15 Union St, Bena, 3946
About
We will be putting 1200 plants in the ground and installing guards around them as we go.
Arrive 9.30 for a 10 am start. Finish around 1pm.
Soup & Sandwich Lunch provided .
Some background
• Planning for revegetation on this site of approximately one hectare is underway! In the future it may include provision for management of the water flow as the property receives storm water runoff from the Bena township.
• The planting site is on a north-easterly facing slope at the head of a gully feeding eventually down to the east branch of the Foster Creek. It is adjacent to a large property with significant old regrowth and revegetation. No cattle for 8years.
• Stage 1: This planting will be part of Stage 1: approx. 25% - 30% of the site ≈ 1,200 plants
• Rabbits abound! All plants will need to be guarded.
What to bring / wear
• sturdy boots/gumboots
• gloves
• layered clothing and wet weather gear if rain is forecast
• drink bottle and a snack
• and a rubber mallet, if you have one, for tree guard stakes.
Access to the planting area
Planting site relatively smooth underfoot, no pugging. Lower sections may be wet.
Parking
Plenty of parking available on site
About the property owners
Dean and Mandi are both country born and wished to spend their senior years back there. This block was purchased in 2017 to get out of Melbourne. After a few years of planning, then a couple of years of Covid, they finally started building and progressing with retirement.
Dean and Mandi moved in 12 months ago and now need to do the garden, and a large part of the block is to be revegetated and returned to bush!
