About

This introductory level assumes no prior programming experience. Participants learn the essential building blocks of Python: variables, data types, lists, dictionaries, and fundamental data structures. The course covers indexing and slicing for data selection, introduces NumPy for numerical computing, and concludes with basic statistical calculations and simple plotting. The focus is on developing computational thinking alongside practical coding skills.
Objectives:
- Understand and use Python's core data types
- Create and manipulate lists, tuples, and dictionaries
- Apply indexing and slicing to extract specific data elements
- Import and use the NumPy library for array operations
- Calculate basic descriptive statistics (mean, median, standard deviation)
- Create simple visualisations using Matplotlib
