About

A practical child safety forum for all school staff

School staff are invited to attend the Term 4 Recognising & Responding to Family Violence Forum focused on building whole-school capability to identify and respond to family violence within a child safety context.

Please note: This forum is a repeat of our Term 3 session. If you attended the previous forum, keep an eye out for our Term 1, 2027 Child Safety Forum, which will focus on recognising and responding to harmful sexualised behaviours.

This forum is open to all school staff, including teaching staff, education support staff, office/admin staff and wellbeing staff.

The session will support participants to strengthen their understanding of how family violence may present in school settings, including observable signs and indicators, risk factors, barriers to disclosure and help-seeking, and appropriate referral and reporting pathways.

Through expert guest presentations from The Orange Door and Community-Based Child Protection, participants will build confidence in recognising family violence-related concerns, responding safely and appropriately, and knowing when and how to escalate concerns through internal school processes including PROTECT, MARAM, CISS and FVISS.

The forum reinforces that all staff have an important role in child safety. Staff are not expected to become family violence specialists, but to feel more confident noticing concerns, responding appropriately, documenting information, and seeking support proactively through the right pathways.

Time: Doors open at 9:15am for arrival and tea/coffee. The event will begin promptly at 9:30am and ends at 3:30pm.

Parking: There is limited parking available onsite at Jan Lake Centre.

Further Details:

- Morning tea and lunch will be provided.
