The Racing Committee is offering fire extinguisher testing.
Fire Extinguishers: One of the things required to be checked in an audit for both racing and SA Marine Safety regulations, is having a fire extinguisher in current certification. The squadron will again provide a re-certification service for fire extinguishers. This will be carried out on the weekend following the AFL grand final i.e. 3rd and 4th October. You could buy new ones but, If you would like to think “green” and Spend $10, you can recertify a fire extinguisher for this season. The following arrangements will apply:
• maximum size 4 kilo;
• no CO2;
• anything over 5 years old will not be considered, so check the expiry date on your cylinder;
• anything with corrosion or deterioration will be rejected in a marine environment;
• cylinders which are not identified with boat name and contact phone number will not be looked at, I recommend using masking tape and texta ID applied to the cylinder;
• a try booking will be set up so you can pay your $10.00 per unit contribution. All funds will go back to the club this time.
I will set up a table in the dinghy shed so you can simply walk in and leave your cylinders there awaiting inspection. This area is under video surveillance and reasonably secure. Please do not leave cylinders at the Office or outside the Sailing Office. And please do not interrupt the squadron office with dropping off cylinders. All payments via try booking please.
