This latest offering from PLEXUS explores the contrasting worlds of light and shade, the states of alertness and dreaming, the alpha and omega of human consciousness.

PLEXUS again presents five world premieres from five very different composers. Nick Buc’s Abraxas is a magical talisman bracelet that protects us from nightmares, while Sean O’Boyle’s Morning Ramble brings us liltingly into the realisation that everything is okay; it was only a dream. Michael Knopf’s Quasi Helio Sonic derives its musical sound world from the filtered and transposed vibration of our sun. We traverse the sparse and sun-parched yet beautiful landscape of Adrian Hollay’s Desert Cities, and Rob Cossom’s Lux Aeterna metamorphoses the earthly light into the divine and everlasting enlightenment.

The program is embraced at each end by music written by the late Peter Sculthorpe for the Verdehr Trio. This is our celebration of a great Australian composer, and homage to a great American trio.
