Hannah's Long Lunch

This is a function in honour of Hannah Maclurcan (nee Phillips) born Tambaroora/Hill End NSW in 1860. When her family moved to Queensland Hannah worked from a young age in her father's Hotels. In 1898 she wrote and published Mrs Maclurcan's CookeryBook:  After successfully running the Queens Hotel in Townsville Hannah moved to Sydney and became the owner of the Wentworth Hotel from 1901-1936. During this time Hannah hosted numerous charity events for children, hospitals, war veterans, The Salvation Army, RSPCA and many more.

Hannah's Long Lunch will consist of six course meal created by Rebecca Sutton inspired by Hannah's recipes while using produce from the region where possible. Wine of the region included. Entertainment will be Henry Bialowas Jazz Trio and Jason and Chloe Roweth an Australian Bush Band. Jacqui Newling resident cook for "Sydney Living Museums" will give a talk on "Colonial Culinary Culture". Lucky door prizes include Margaret Olley prints donated by Tweed Regional Gallery and Margaret Olley Centre and a 1 nights accommodation and breakfast for 2 staying at Sofitel Sydney Wentworth.  There will also be a silent art auction with paintings donated by Hill End artist Julie Williams and Janet Haslett and a framed limited print donated by Art Gallery NSW. In the true spirit of Hannah all profits will go toward the Hill End Photographic Restoration fund under auspices of the Royal Hall Committee.

Accommodation is limited in Hill End so bookings are essential.
