Congratulations to your child for being elected by their classmates to be on the Student Council for 2016.
Student Council aims to involve students in school decision making and to develop leadership responsibilities. As well, during the year, students will be responsible for helping to organise fund raising events in support of charities and other fun activities for their classmates.
S.R.C. representatives report relevant class meeting decisions to Student Council. This is an important avenue for students to have a voice in their learning, their classroom and their school. This may result in improvements to facilities, changes to student programs or processes and gives feedback to the adults in the school. At Burnside we aim to create a positive school community where everyone belongs, and our SRC plays a very important role in this.
The staff members responsible for Student Council in 2016 are Angela Elkin, Edward Gilmore and Kellie Di Maria.
Student Council badges with the student’s name included can be ordered for $9.50.
This is an exciting position for your child to have and I hope that they will enjoy the experience of learning to speak in front of others and be part of leading their class meetings.
