Peter Garrett in conversation

Peter Garrett
author of Big Blue Sky
in conversation with George Megalogenis
FRIDAY 16th OCTOBER at 7:00pm
at Glen Eira Town Hall
cnr Glen Eira and Hawthorn Roads, Caulfield VIC 3163

Peter Garrett’s life has been deeply felt and fully lived. From his idyllic childhood growing up in the northern suburbs of Sydney, to an early interest in equality and justice; from the height of 1960s culture shock at ANU to fronting iconic Australian band Midnight Oil; from his time as a galvanising activist for the environment to being the only unaligned Cabinet Minister in two Labor governments, Garrett has an extraordinary story to tell. He writes movingly about Australia’s environment and its First Peoples, about his love for his family and his passion for our country: what it means to him and what it can become. Provocative, entertaining, impassioned and inspiring, this memoir goes to the heart and soul of a fascinating Australian and raises questions crucial to us all.

George Megalogenis is an author and journalist with three decades' experience in the media. The Australian Moment won the 2013 Prime Minister's Literary Award for Non-fiction and the 2012 Walkley Award for Non-fiction, and formed the basis for the ABC documentary series Making Australia Great. In his new book Australia’s Second Chance he asks the most important question confronting the country right now – how do we maintain our winning streak?
