Intensive Course on Joyce's 'Portrait'

Description

This intensive course will run from 12 Noon-6.30pm, on Saturday 12 March 2016, at the Celtic Club. It will examine the remarkable novel by James Joyce, 'A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man', first published 100 years ago. It will examine its innovative technique, its subversion of genres, and its destabilising of many nineteenth-century pieties. The presenter, Frances Devlin-Glass, has taught Joyce for several decades to many levels of students and is committed to the notion that Joyce is comprehensible.
