Beyond the Training - Sam Chester 
A one day exploration of the 'Viewpoints’, a physical training that provides a vocabulary for thinking about and acting upon movement and gesture within the construction of theatre and movement composition on stage.

The workshop  is open to established and emerging performers actors, directors, dancers, educators and makers. Come with a keen interest to be on the floor.

About the Viewpoints: 
The Viewpoints was developed in the 1970’s by choreographer Mary Overlie that grew out of the Post Modern dance world as a way of creating structure for movement improvisation Originally there were six Viewpoints that included Space, Shape, Time, Emotion, Movement and Story

ABOUT SAM CHESTER 

In the past 10 years Sam has worked with the Viewpoints in training and making. In 2004 she was awarded the Mike Walsh fellowship to train with the SITI Company in Saratoga as well as having a continued relationship with core SITI member Barney O’Hanlon and Laura Sheedy, who she has brought to Australia a number of times to run Viewpoints intensive labs through Queen Street Studio and ReadyMade Works. She is very interested in how containers of creativity are facilitated. In 2013 she was awarded a Churchill Fellowship looking at devised theatre and making practices, is the 2015 - 2016 Associate Artist of Critical Path in Sydney and currently is the Head of Movement at WAAPA and Director of Sydney based dance space ReadyMade Works.
