In Conversation with Debra Jopson

Description

Come join us with Debra Jopson in conversation with Dr Siobhan McHugh on her book Oliver of the Levant!

This is a FREE event with snacks and non-alcoholic beverages provided.

Debra Jopson completed the first draft of Oliver of the Levant while participating in the first Faber Academy novel writing course held in Australia in 2011. Born in Sydney, she spent part of her childhood in Beirut and continued to visit her family there during the first rounds of the 1970s Lebanese civil war.

She has worked as a journalist where she specialised in Aboriginal affairs and major investigations, winning a Walkley award and numerous Human Rights Commission honours.

In 2014, she became the Walkley Awards Freelance Journalist of the Year.

Siobhan McHugh is an internationally recognised oral historian, writer and documentary-maker. She is Irish-born but Australia-based. Her feats don't stop there! She’s the author of six books, over 60 radio documentaries, numerous print features and a short memoir and has co-scripted international television documentary on the Irish diaspora.
