Rosie Batty Roadshow - Brisbane Breakfast
The "Answer the call" fundraiser supports the much needed help line at Women’s Legal Service Queensland who is at the frontline of domestic violence prevention, providing free legal and welfare help to Queensland women and their children who experience domestic violence. In January 2016 Women’s Legal Service started a new Helpline to assist more women at times when they need it most. The Helpline was started thanks to help from founding supporters including Soroptimist International Brisbane, and has achieved a 700% increase in calls answered. This has meant that over 10,000 women will be able to receive help this year. Support from the Answer the Call breakfast will help Women’s Legal Service to provide more legal appointments to women who require ongoing assistance in regard to domestic violence and building a safer future.
The Brisbane Club was a founding member for the Helpline and continues to provide much needed support to continue to provide a safer community.
