Twelve Angry Men
“compelling, dynamic, edge-of-your-seat theatre”
“aesthetically on point, ripper performances, powerful”
“straight theatre is not dead in Launceston – make sure you see this classic play”
“played to perfection by a strong cast”
Three River Theatre is thrilled to present the well-loved American classic play Twelve Angry Men this September in the Earl Arts Centre, Launceston.
Striking a defiant chord 60 years on from the film that made it famous, Twelve Angry Men is a thoughtful and eloquent plea for rational debate, lateral thought, curiosity and the acknowledgement of uncertainty in a polarising, sloganeering, glib and macho world.
It will be the first time the show has been performed in Launceston for 30 years.
Featuring an all-star cast of some of Launceston’s finest male actors, Twelve Angry Men is set in the mid-1950s. The show sees twelve jurors decide the fate of a boy accused of murdering his father. Any verdict must be unanimous. In the event the jurors find the boy guilty, the death sentence is mandatory.
The cast includes well-known Launceston actors Marcus Bower, Antony Butchart, Jan Gluszyk, Travis Hennessy, Jeff Hockley, Gerard Lane, Mitchell Langley, Daniel Lizotte, Ross Marsden, Cheyne Mitchell, Barry Olding and Kieran Phillips, and is directed by Stan Gottschalk with Stuart Loone.
