Persian Liaisons celebrates works birthed from the merging of the Persian and Western  musical worlds. The programme will feature Iranian classical ney specialist Arya Bastaninezhad speaking about this ancient instrument and two Iranian songs written about two gorgeous Bahktari girls (Dayni and Sholeyl). Hannaneh's Ommagio a Ferdowsi is based on an epic Iranian poem Ĺ ahnameh (lit. The Book of Kings) written between c.977 and 1010 AD while Edward Gregson's Aztec Dances, described as a piece that will smash any of our prejudices to smithereens, paints images of Amazonian rituals and dances.
