A series of three concerts of beautiful French music starts on Saturday, 27 August at the Wesley Music Centre. The first concert Rouge, will feature soprano Louise Page with Colleen Rae-Gerrard (piano) and Adelaide based cellist, Jacqueline Finlay with Hilda Visser-Scott (piano). The songs start in World War 1 France: poignant, thought provoking, a testament to what was lost. Interspersed with short cello and piano pieces by Gabriel Fauré and finishing with some nineteenth and twentieth century Art Songs, this concert promises to be a moving and stimulating experience.
The second concert, Blanc (Saturday, 24 September) celebrates the Glories of Versailles through the musical keyboard, including French works for clavichord, harpsichord, forte piano and organ. Artists include James Porteous (organ), Ariana Odermatt (harpsichord) and Colleen Rae-Gerrard (forte piano).
The third concert Bleu (Saturday, 5 November) features the Luminescence Chamber Singers and outstanding young Australian organist Jonathan Lee. Music from Durufle, Faure, Debussy and other composers with a Paris connection.
