When & Where:
Saturday 26th November 2016, 6.30pm
Seamstress Bar & Restaurant – Sweatshop Bar
113 Lonsdale St, Melbourne
How did Frocktails start?
Frocktails started in 2013 when Kat of All the Whimsical Things wanted to plan a special night out after having her first child. She invited her blog readers to join her for dinner, cocktails and fabulous evening. The inaugural Frocktails was attended by 27 lovely ladies and since then four Frocktails events have been held. As the events got bigger, Kat needed some help. Enter Libby and Renay and some wonderful volunteers who help to make Frocktails so much fun.
Can anyone go?
Yes! Most attendees are home sewists who have met each other through social media or local sewing groups. There are various ages and levels of experience, and great diversity in style. Some have met each other ‘in real life’ while others are meeting for the first time. Most are from Victoria however there have been attendees from all corners of Australia and even overseas.
What if I don’t know anyone?
Come anyway! There will be food and cocktails, plus the opportunity to pat fabric and closely check out the finishes on other people’s outfits – how many events do you know of where this is acceptable (and expected) behaviour?! Plus, you already have something in common to talk about - sewing!
Do I have to make my own outfit?
You’re strongly encouraged to make your outfit but you won’t be stopped at the door if you don’t!
What’s the dress code?
Wear something that makes you feel good. Everyone’s style is different so it’s up to you how dressed up you want to be. You can check out some outfits from previous events by looking up #frocktails #melbournefrocktails on Instagram or checking out some blog posts.
What does the ticket include?
Your ticket includes delicious canapés equivalent to a light dinner, 2 cocktails*, and lots of enthusiastic sewing talk. There will also be a professional photographer and door prizes.
Will special diets be catered for?
There will be items suitable for vegetarian and coeliac diets. If you have medical dietary requirements, please let us know on the booking form.
Can I buy tickets for friends?
You can buy a maximum of 2 tickets per order. You must include the name and email address of the attendees.
Can I sell my ticket or get a refund if I can’t go?
Tickets are not transferable. If you can’t go, don’t give your ticket away or sell it to someone. Instead, request a refund by contacting us at firstname.lastname@example.org. Your ticket will be allocated to the next person on the waitlist. Refunds (less the booking fee) are available up to 10 days before the event. If you find out you can’t go within 10 days of the event please email email@example.com and we’ll see what we can do.
Will there be a competition for Best Dressed?
There are so many amazing outfits in vastly different styles, we don’t think we could ever pick just one. Besides, Frocktails isn’t a competition. It’s a great opportunity make something you love, share the process and finished product with others, and have a great night out! Door prizes will be drawn at random.
Are there any other meet-ups happening?
Yes, one event is not nearly enough! We want to make it a sewing weekend extravaganza!
The other events are being organised by some lovely volunteers so please email the contact below if you are interested. Updates will be posted on Facebook and Instagram. If you’re organising additional meet-ups, you can post an invite on Facebook or Instagram and/or let us know so we can spread the word.
