Biennial 2016: Children's Workshops

TarraWarra Biennial 2016: Children's Workshops

Get creative these school holidays with a choice of children's workshops inspired by the TarraWarra Biennial 2016: Endless Circulation exhibition.

Wednesday 21 September - Circulating, Cycles and Circles Workshop

Artist: Clare James

11.30am -1pm & 2pm- 3.30pm

Starting with a guided tour of the exhibition, Clare will explore the natural processes of circulation that fascinate her and inform her art practice.
Germination, evaporation and decomposition are processes that occur around us constantly.
Children will engage with the idea that ‘artist’ is also ‘scientist’, trying to understand and explore ideas and concepts through experimentation and ‘play’.
During the workshop the children will create sculptures that also act as experiments. Participants will create pieces to take home, that over the following days and weeks will germinate, decompose or evaporate.
The idea of circulation will be discussed in it’s many other forms such as currency/money, body systems, postal services etc.
They will make a mini magazine (a zine) together, using all of the drawings of their ideas for the sculptures and observations from the exhibition. These will circulate amongst all of the participants to take home with them.
