Summary

Australian children of all ages love engaging in music. Research shows that even very young children have much to gain from listening to and creating music. Music Australia invites you to join us and our presenters as we explore HOW you can bring music into the lives of very young children, WHAT effect music can have on the developing child and WHY music is beneficial to young children.

In this session, Music: Count Us In’s 2016 Mentor, Jay Laga’aia, will be joined by education experts Rhonda Davidson-Irwin and Dr Anita Collins. Together they will explore:

  • Formal and informal strategies to help young children experience music
  • Opportunities to access for teachers/parents/community members
  • The role of music in early childhood development

This is talk is suitable for specialist music teachers, general classroom teachers, teachers in training, early childhood providers, private music teachers, interested parents/guardian and members of the community.
