This 20hr, 3 day Trauma Center Trauma-Sensitive Yoga (TCSY) Foundational Workshop for Yoga Teachers, (facilitated by Trauma Center at JRI, TCTSY Faculty Members - Kristen Pringle & Maria Jude, Senior Yoga Teachers & Health Professionals), is the first and only official Melbourne Trauma-Sensitive Yoga Workshop exclusively for Yoga Teachers. This officially endorsed workshop is intended to inspire and support Yoga Teachers to assist their yoga classes to be trauma-informed.
This workshop is brought to you directly from The Trauma Center at JRI, MA, USA, (Founder & Director Dr. Bessel van der Kolk and Director of Yoga Services David Emerson), and is delivered by endorsed Training Faculty members. As such, the workshop meets one of the pre-requesites for applicants of the Trauma Center at JRI's TCTSY Certification for Yoga Teachers and/or Mental Health Career Professionals, to be held for the first time in Melbourne (and online) in September 2017!
This 20hr foundational workshop will introduce Yoga Teachers to the core concepts and applications of David Emerson's and the Trauma Center at JRI's, highly regarded and evidence based intervention TCTSY - Trauma-Sensitive Yoga. TCTSY is a psychosocial yoga intervention for youth and adults affected by: Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD); chronic, treatment-resistant PTSD; complex PTSD; dissociative disorders; and other related emotional and behavioural problems. TCTSY is listed as an evidence-based practice and program on the official registry in the USA: NREPP- SAMHSA (substance abuse and mental health services administration).
In this workshop Yoga Teachers will learn:
The latest trauma theories and neurophysiology
Theoretical underpinnings and methodology of the TCTSY model
The research and evidence base involving TCTSY
How to apply TCTSY principles to Yoga Teaching practice, and more!
When?: Friday 17th to Sunday 19th March 2017
Friday 1pm-6.30pm, Saturday 9am-6pm & Sunday 12.30-6pm

Please Note: This workshop satisfies one of the entrance requirements into the Trauma Center at JRI's 300hr certification program in TCTSY (TCTSY-F) for Yoga Teachers and Mental health Career Professionals, to be held in Melbourne, Australia & the USA, & Germany from September 2017. In addition, workshop participants will be eligible for supervision & listing with TCTSY Australia.
This workshop is solely for professional development and is not intended as an intervention for those who have experienced trauma. Talking about trauma, even in the context of a professional training can be triggering.
