ANCA NSW/ACT Conducting Course, 2017

This NESA accredited conducting course has been devised by Dr. Stephen Mould, Lecturer in Conducting and Opera Studies, Conservatorium, Sydney, and has three different modules depending on the participant's experience. Dr. Mould will present a keynote session for all participants to discuss different aspects of conducting including score preparation and rehearsal techniques. 

Advanced Conducting: Dr. Stephen Mould
This session is designed for choral conductors working at a professional or semi-professional level. Participants will work on a piece they are currently preparing/rehearsing with their ensemble and a set work. The work must include voices and musicals can be included. In one of the sessions, conductors will work with an ensemble. 
  • Entry to this module is via submission of CV or summary of conducting experience and a rehearsal video of no more than three minutes length, representative of the applicant's current level of conducting.     Intermediate Conducting: Réka Csernyik

    These sessions are designed for primary, secondary or community choral conductors who wish to increase their level of skill with guidance from a professional conductor.  It is expected that participants will have a good rudimentary knowledge of conducting as the content will include a variety of conducting techniques.

    Beginner Conducting: Rachelle Elliott

    The ultimate content of these sessions will be determined by the needs of the participants.  Participants will work on basic conducting technique and all workshop materials will be provided. There are no audition requirements for this module.

    Australian National Choral Association (NSW/ACT) through the Professional Teachers’ Council NSW- NSW Education Standards  Authority (NESA) as the endorsed provider of QTC Registered professional development for the maintenance of accreditation at Proficient, Highly Accomplished, and Lead levels.

    Completing the Choral Conductor Education - Intermediate will contribute 24 hours of NESA Registered PD addressing 1.5.2; 3.5.2; 5.1.2; 6.2.2 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW.

  • Completing the Choral Conductor Education – Rudimentary will contribute 27 hours of NESA Registered PD addressing 2.1.1; 3.3.1; 3.5.1; 6.3.1 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW.
