Jesuit Social Services: An evening with Vincent Schiraldi

Monday 20 March, 6:00pm - 7:30pm

Wheeler Centre
176 Little Lonsdale Street

Melbourne VIC 3000

Jesuit Social Services would like to invite you to join us for an evening with international youth justice reformer and innovator Vincent Schiraldi at The Wheeler Centre.

Vincent will make a short presentation on the challenges facing youth justice in Australia before taking part in a panel discussion moderated by Fr Frank Brennan and including former Victorian Commissioner for Children and Young People, Bernie Geary, and ABC journalist, Karen Percy.

The panel will explore challenges and solutions from home and abroad as we grapple with delivering a youth justice system that can effectively divert young people to a more positive path and simultaneously improve community safety.

Currently a Senior Research Fellow with the Harvard Kennedy School’s Program in Criminal Justice Policy and Management, Vincent brings a wealth of expertise in youth justice policy – having founded the think tank Justice Policy Institute and driven major reforms to youth justice systems in Washington DC and New York City.

Frank Brennan is a Jesuit priest, professor of law at Australian Catholic University and Adjunct Professor at the Australian Centre for Christianity and Culture, the Australian National University College of Law and the National Centre for Indigenous Studies. He is the newly appointed CEO of Catholic Social Services Australia and former National Director of Human Rights and Social Justice for Jesuit Social Services.
